How to prepare an oral presentation

Presenters speak for 15 minutes supported by a PowerPoint presentation, followed by 3 minutes of direct questions; each session contains a few papers selected to complement each other. This is what most of us consider a “traditional” oral session with limited time for discussions at the end. The presenters will be asked to hand in their PowerPoint presentations in advance (at least prior the session before their session). Please arrive in the auditorium 10 minutes prior to the start of the session to meet the chairperson and other presenters.

How to prepare a poster presentation

Posters should have paper format 900 x 1200 mm and should be installed on poster panel at beginning of the conference. Each panel will be marked with paper # and a title of paper. There will be several poster sessions and each presenter may speak for 3 minutes supported by 3 PowerPoint slides in the auditorium next to the exhibition area, which serve as an “aperitif” to the paper and explain the major findings. Each poster session contains a number of papers selected to complement each other, and there will be time for discussions around the posters after the oral introductions.

Short Abstracts for AERC2010

NOTE: ISUD7 is an integral part of the AERC2010 conference. If you want to make an oral presentation or present a poster you first submit a short abstract (maximum 2000 characters) to a specific symposium, i.e. ISUD7. The chairpersons of the symposium will then review your submitted abstract and you will receive a notification at the end of January.

The abstracts will be compiled into a Book of abstracts which will be distributed to all AERC2010 participants. There are no official proceedings of the AERC (but for ISUD7, see below), but presenters are invited to submit manuscripts to Rheologica Acta for a "special issue" from AERC2010. Submissions are accepted until June 10, 2010, but early submissions are welcome.
